Coiled

These works come from the desire to focus on a meditative process of creating meant to stimulate both the eyes and the brain. By focusing on the repetitive action of coiling, I was able to put aesthetics on the back burner and pay attention to the physical action of making. Paying attention to the tightness of the wrapping and watching how the size and shape of the material would influence the way the string moved around it. Concentrating on the process of creating as opposed to the outcome, I was able to get lost in the mesmerizing action of coiling.
